2.5 Gas Fittings
2.5.1 General Instructions
s Care is to be taken when connecting and detaching the caravan.
s No persons are to be between the towing vehicle and the caravan during positioning
for connecting and detaching.
s Before commencing the journey, close all gas isolator taps and the regulator tap. Ex-
ception: If you plan to use the living area heater during the journey, leave the "Heater"
gas isolator tap and the regulator tap open.
s Have the gas fittings repaired or altered by an authorised workshop only.
s Have the gas fittings checked by an authorised specialist workshop according to the
national regulations. This also applies for not registered vehicles. For modifications to
the gas fittings have the gas fittings immediately checked by an authorised specialist
workshop.
s The gas pressure regulator and control and exhaust emission evacuations must also
be inspected. Bürstner recommends having the gas pressure regulator checked no
later than every 6 years.
s In case of a defect of the gas fittings (gas odour, high gas consumption) there is an
explosion hazard! Close regulator tap on the gas bottle immediately. Open windows
and doors. Do not smoke; do not ignite any open flames, and do not operate electric
switches (light switches a.s.o.). Have the defect repaired by an authorised workshop.
s Open a skylight before taking open sources of combustion (gas cooker) into service.
s Do not use the gas cooker for heating purposes.
s If the caravan or gas equipment are not used, close the regulator tap on the gas bot-
tle.
s If there are several gas devices, each gas device must have its own gas isolator tap.
If individual gas devices are not in use, close the respective gas isolator tap.
s Thermocouple must close within 1 minute after the gas flame has extinguished. A
clicking sound is audible. Check function from time to time.
s When refuelling the towing vehicle, no source of combustion (gas cooker, gas heater,
boiler, etc.) is to be in operation.
s The installed devices are meant for use with propane or butane gas or a mixture of
both. The gas pressure regulator as well as all installed gas devices are set for a gas
pressure of 30 mbar.
s Propane gas is capable of gasification up to -42 °C, whereas butane gas gasifies at
0 °C. Below these temperatures no gas pressure is available. Butane gas is unsuita-
ble for use in winter.

What should I keep in mind when I put my caravan into winter storage? Verified

Make sure that all water is removed from boilers, tanks and toilets. It is also wise to remove the battery. Store this in a warm place and use a trickle charger to keep it charged. Tire pressure can decrease due to the cold, making it a good idea to icrease pressure with 0,5 bar before storage. It might also be a good idea to place a moisture absorber in the caravan during storage.

How long can a caravan stand outside? Verified

A caravan is made to be outside and can therefore be left outside. However, when the caravan is not in use, it is better to store it dry and covered. This extends the lifespan of the caravan. If the caravan is left outside for a long time, it can sustain damage. For example, the sun can dry out sealing rubbers and moss can form. An alternative to storage can be to put a protective cover over the caravan.
