Wie reinige ich meinen Dutch Oven?

Ein Dutch Oven benötigt aufgrund seiner Fertigung aus Gusseisen

nach jeder Verwendung eine gründliche Reinigung. Bei entspre-

chender Aufmerksamkeit und Pege ermöglicht der Topf auch

nach vielen Jahren noch große Benutzerfreundlichkeit.

Nach der Benutzung muss der Topf vollkommen abgekühlt sein.

Für die Reinigung wird lediglich warmes Wasser benötigt. Unbe-

dingt erst nach dem Erkalten des Topfes das Wasser einfüllen, da

es sonst zu einem Thermoschock kommen kann und sich das Ma-

terial verziehen oder im schlimmsten Fall reißen kann. Zudem darf

grundsätzlich kein Spülmittel benutzt oder der Topf in die Spülma-

schine gestellt werden – das ist enorm wichtig, da sonst dem Topf

das Fett entzogen wird und somit die vorher aufgebaute Patina

zerstört wird, was dann wiederum zu Rost führt.

Um Essensreste abzuschrubben, können handelsübliche Spül-

schwämme oder eine Bürste benutzt werden. Jetzt nur noch den

Topf mit einem Küchentuch oder einem fusselfreien Geschirrtuch

abtrocken und direkt im Anschluss das Gusseisen erneut mit einer

leichten Ölschicht versiegeln. Mehr benötigt es für die Reinigung

nicht. Alle übriggebliebenen Keime sterben spätestens bei dem

nächsten Kochvorgang ab, da der Topf vor der Verwendung immer

gut vorgeheizt wird.

Dutch Oven richtig lagern

Der Topf sollte immer an einem möglichst trockenen Ort gelagert

werden. Um eventuelle Feuchtigkeit aufzusaugen, kann Küchen-

papier in den Topf gelegt werden. Außerdem empehlt es sich,

ein mehrfach gefaltetes Küchenpapier oder eine Pappe zwischen

Deckel und Topf zu legen – so kann die Luft gut zirkulieren.
