9 If you buy distilled water, check it’s marketed as suitable for irons.
10 Don’t use chemically descaled water, or water from a water
softening installation, and don’t put anything in the water.
11 Pour water into the water inlet.
12 Pour slowly, and try to pour down one side of the inlet, to allow
the air in the reservoir to escape, otherwise you’ll cause an air
lock and the water will overflow.
13 Don’t fill past the max mark on the reservoir.
14 Wipe up any spillage.
C PREPARATION
15 Check for textile care symbols (i j k l).
16 Iron fabrics needing low temperatures j first, then those that
need medium temperatures k, and finish with those needing
high temperatures l (or max).
C POWER UP
17 Set the iron upright, with the rests at either side of the rear of the
iron, and the end of the handle, on a stable, level, heat-resistant
surface, preferably an ironing board
18 Put the plug into the wall socket (switch the socket on).

temperature.
