Problem Possible cause Solution
The coee machine
produces less
coee than before.
Perhaps the sieve in
the center of the pod
holder is clogged.
If the sieve is clogged, use a
washing-up brush to unclog
the sieve. If you cannot
unclog it properly with the
washing-up brush, put the
pod holder in the machine
and descale the machine.
Descale the machine (see
chapter 'CALC').
HD7868, HD7866,
HD7864: Perhaps
the strength select
switch is set to strong
coee.
Set the switch to mild coee
to get a normal amount of
coee.
I cannot close the
lid properly.
Perhaps a used
coee pod is
sticking to the water
distribution disc.
If this is the case, remove the
used pod.
The coee is not
strong enough.
You may not have
used the right
number of pods or
may have pressed
the wrong button.
Use 1 pod in combination
with the 1-cup pod holder
and the 1-cup button.
Use 2 pods in combination
with the 2-cup pod holder
and the 2-cup button.
The pod(s) may not
have been placed
in the pod holder
properly.
Place the coee pod(s)
properly in the center of the
pod holder, to prevent water
from escaping along the edge
of the pod(s). When you use
two coee pods on top of
each other, make sure that
the convex sides of both
pods point downwards and
press the pods lightly into
the pod holder. Make sure
that the coee in the pod is
distributed evenly.
You may have used
the same pod twice.
Place a new pod in the pod
holder to brew a fresh cup of
coee.
Perhaps you need a
dierent avor.
If you prefer a more robust
avor, Senseo® coee pods
with a stronger blend are
available.
HD7868, HD7866,
HD7864: Perhaps the
strength select switch
is set to mild coee.
Set the strength select switch
to strong coee.
The coee is too
strong.
Perhaps you need a
dierent avor.
If you prefer a milder avor,
Senseo® coee pods with a
milder blend are available.
HD7868, HD7866,
HD7864: Perhaps
the strength select
switch is set to strong
coee.
Set the strength select switch
to mild coee.
Water leaks from
the coee machine.
You have not closed
the lid properly.
Close the lid properly and
lock the lever.
You overlled the
water reservoir.
Do not ll the water reservoir
beyond MAX level.
The sieve in the
center of the pod
holder may be
clogged.
Check the pod holder. If
the sieve is clogged, use a
washing-up brush to unclog
the sieve. If you cannot clean
it properly with the washing-
up brush, put the pod holder
in the machine and descale
the machine (see chapter
‘CALC’).
The sealing ring
may be stuck under
the edge of the
distribution disc.
Check if the sealing ring is
stuck under the edge of
the distribution disc. If it is,
pull it out from under the
distribution disc carefully.
The machine has
been stored in a
room that was not
frost-free.

asked questions or contact the Consumer Care Center in your country.
Problem Possible cause Solution
I got no or very
little coee when I
used the machine
for the rst time.
You did not ush the
machine before rst
use.
Flush the machine before rst
use. When the machine has
emptied a complete water
reservoir, you can start to
make a new coee.
The light in the on/
o button ashes
slowly.
The machine is
heating up.
If this takes longer than two
minutes,contact the Philips
Consumer Care Center in
your country.
The light in the on/
o button ashes
quickly.
There is not enough
water in the water
reservoir.
Fill the water reservoir and
make sure you place the
water reservoir properly into
the machine.
The oat in the water
reservoir may be
stuck.
Empty the water reservoir
and shake it a few times to
release the oat. Clean the
water reservoir with hot water
and some washing-up liquid
or in the dishwasher.
If these solutions do not solve
the problem, contact the
Philips Consumer Care Center
in your country.
The coee is not
hot enough.
You have used the
machine for a longer
period without
descaling.
Perform the descaling
procedure (see chapter
'CALC').
The coee
temperature in
the cup decreases
quickly.
Do not use cups that
are too large or have
thick walls.
Use thin-walled cups. Thin-
walled cups absorb less heat
from the coee than thick-
walled cups.
You can preheat the coee
machine and cup by brewing
a cup of hot water rst
without placing a coee pod
in the pod holder.
I cannot open the
lid.
A temporary vacuum
has developed under
the lid.
Switch o the coee
machine. Pull up the lever
and wait 24 hours before you
open the lid. You may need
to use some force. Always
make sure the pod holders
are clean and the sieve is not
clogged to prevent vacuum.

Good morning, How is it possible that the coffee is suddenly so watery. We have been using coffee pods for years. THE. Always fine. I flushed the coffee device, but the coffee remains watery and no foam layer. What should we do with it. Hope to hear from you.
