My phone is not working, it says on the display ‘base no power’, I have had this product KX-TGC420E for about 6 years, I do not have the manual anymore, what is wrong with it, is this it’s shelf life over with, do I need a new phone?. Can you help. Thanks

If any Panasonic handset display ‘base no power’, it means either: 1. Main base is not plugged in, or main base or plug are faulty, or 2. Handset is no longer registered to the main base unit. To resolve, if the main base is in working order, try going through registration process again.

This is the first answerphone I've ever owned in the last 30+ years, that doesn't have an audible alert indicating a new message waiting. Nor is there any mechanism for setting one. Thankfully we do not have accessibility problems, though we might have noticed this omission sooner, had that been the case. Interestingly, the kx-tgj420e manual allows an "Advanced" option for setting an audible new message alert. It's deplorable that Panasonic thinks this an advanced feature.
