!!!!!!!! Guys, I found a way to disassemble the lamp in order to change the string on the switch. You need to remove the lampshade and unscrew the lamp. There is a black plastic insert inside the cartridge. Look carefully, there is such a lock against unwinding. You need to press it with a screwdriver or a knitting needle and twist the upper gray part counterclockwise. After that, unscrew the screw and you will get to the ill-fated switch. Hooray!

This morning I brought the IKEA NYFORS lamp back to the store. It is a poorly designed product in that the switch operation is by a flimsy pull string which eventually (within a year) will fray and break meaning the whole lamp cannot be used. It is also impossible to repair as it is beyond difficult to open up the switch mechanism. It is a lovely lamp marred by a poorly designed and flimsy switch.
