IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to

reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:

1. Read all instructions.

2. This appliance is not intended for use

by persons (including children) with

reduced physical, sensory, or mental

capabilities, or lack of experience and

knowledge, unless they are closely

supervised and instructed concerning

use of the appliance by a person

responsible for their safety.

3. Close supervision is necessary when any

appliance is used by or near children.

Children should be supervised to ensure

that they do not play with the appliance.

4. Do not touch hot surfaces or hot water.

Use handles or knobs. Care must be

taken since burns can occur from

touching hot parts or from spilled hot

liquid.

5. To protect against fire, electric shock,

and personal injury, do not immerse

cord, plug, power base, or electric kettle

in water or other liquid.

6. Unplug from outlet when kettle is not in

use and before cleaning. Allow to cool

before putting on or taking off parts, and

before cleaning the appliance.

7. Do not operate any appliance with a

damaged supply cord or plug, or after

the appliance malfunctions or has been

dropped or damaged in any manner.

Supply cord replacement and repairs

must be conducted by the manufacturer,

its service agent, or similarly qualified

persons in order to avoid a hazard.

adjustment as set forth in the Limited

Warranty.

8. The use of attachments not

recommended or sold by the appliance

manufacturer may cause fire, electric

shock, or personal injury.

9. Do not use outdoors.

10. Do not let cord hang over edge of

table or counter, or touch hot surfaces,

including the stove.

11. Do not place electric kettle on or near a

hot gas or electric burner or in a heated

oven.

12. To disconnect electric kettle, turn any

control to off by pressing power on/

off button and then remove plug from

wall outlet. To unplug, grasp the plug

and pull from the outlet. Never pull from

the power cord.

13. Do not use appliance for other than

intended use.

14. Do not use for other than heating water.

Other liquids or food will contaminate

the interior and void warranty.

15. Do not allow kettle to boil dry.

16. To avoid circuit overload, do not operate

another high-wattage appliance on the

same circuit.

17. Heater may remain hot after the kettle is

turned off.

18. WARNING: If the kettle is overfilled,

boiling water may be ejected.

19. WARNING: Scalding may occur if the lid

is opened during the heating cycle.

20. Be certain kettle lid is securely in place

during operation and when pouring hot

water.

21. Use only the power base provided.

22. Do not clean kettle with cleansers, steel

wool pads, or other abrasive material.

This appliance is intended for household use only.

w WARNING

Electrical Shock Hazard:

This appliance is provided with either a

polarized (one wide blade) or grounded

(3-prong) plug to reduce the risk of electric

shock. Do not defeat the safety purpose of

the plug by modifying the plug in any way

or by using an adapter. If it still does not fit,

have an electrician replace the outlet.

The length of the cord used on this

appliance was selected to reduce the

hazards of becoming tangled in or tripping

over a longer cord. If a longer cord is

necessary, an approved extension cord

may be used. The electrical rating of

the extension cord must be equal to or

greater than the rating of the appliance. If

the appliance is of the grounded type, the

extension cord should be a grounding type

3-wire cord. Care must be taken to arrange

the extension cord so that it will not drape

over the countertop or tabletop where it

can be pulled on by children or accidentally

tripped over.

To avoid an electrical circuit overload, do

not use another high-wattage appliance on

the same circuit with this appliance.

How to Use

w WARNING

Burn Hazard. Do not overfill kettle. Boiling water may spit out of the spout.

Before first use: Press Open Lid Release Button to lift Lid and fill Kettle with water to MAX fill line

(1.7 L). Press Lid down to secure in place and add Kettle to Base. Plug Kettle into outlet. Toggle

Temperature Button to select 212/100. Kettle will bring water to boil and switch to Keep Warm

automatically. Discard water and repeat 3 times, rinsing out Kettle each time. Kettle is now ready for

use.

NOTE: To change from °F to °C: Press and hold Temperature Button for 3 seconds.

1. Press Open Lid Release Button to lift Lid to

add water to Kettle. Do not fill above MAX fill

line (1.7 L). Push Lid down to close.

2. Make sure Base is on a level surface. Place

Kettle on Base.

3. Plug into outlet. Kettle will beep.

4. Select desired temperature by pressing

Temperature Button. Kettle will beep,

temperature selected will flash 3 times, beep

again, and display as it automatically

begins heating water. Once selected

temperature is reached, Kettle will beep

3 times and switch to Keep Warm for

30 minutes. During this time, Kettle will keep

heating to maintain selected temperature.

After 30 minutes Kettle will automatically turn

off.

NOTE: Press and hold Power ON/OFF

Button at any time to turn Kettle off.

5. Pour hot water into desired mug or cup.

6. Unplug.

NOTE: Only use Kettle to heat water. If Kettle is used to heat other liquids, such as coffee or tea, the

warranty will be voided.

Keep Warm Function:

Kettle automatically switches to Keep Warm for 30 minutes when selected temperature has been

reached. During this time Kettle will keep heating to maintain selected temperature. If Kettle is removed

from Base, Kettle will turn off. Press Power ON/OFF Button to return to selected temperature and

Kettle will start heating. Keep Warm Function does not maintain a boil at 212°F (100°C). It will maintain

202-210°F (94-99°C).

If Kettle Floor Discolors:

It is normal for stainless steel heating elements to discolor. This does not affect the performance

of Kettle. Do not use abrasive scouring pads or cleaners since this may damage the stainless steel

surface.

If Kettle Boils Dry:

The heating element is protected by two automatic safety devices. If your Kettle is accidentally

switched on without being filled with water, or is allowed to boil dry, Kettle will automatically switch off.

You should:

• Unplug Kettle and wait about 20 minutes for element to cool down.

• Refill Kettle; then use as normal and check that Kettle functions correctly. Remove Kettle from Base

and place back on Base. Plug into outlet. Press Temperature Button to select desired water

temperature.

If Kettle Does Not Work:

• Has Kettle been accidentally turned on without being filled with water, or allowed to boil dry?

Remove Kettle from Base and add water. Place Kettle back on Base and press Temperature

Button. If Kettle doesn’t turn on, wait 20 minutes, and try again.

• Is cord firmly plugged into outlet and Kettle firmly seated in Base?

Temperature & Tea Guide

NOTE: These temperature settings can vary depending on a number of factors, such as altitude,

impurities in the water, and the amount of water in the Kettle.

Tea Guide

• Bring filtered or good-tasting tap water to a boil in Kettle. Use 6 ounces (177 mL) of water per cup of

tea.

• If using loose tea instead of tea bags, measure 1 rounded teaspoon of tea per cup into an infuser

and place infuser in cup. If no infuser is available, put tea directly into cup.

• Pour heated water directly over tea. For stronger tea, add more leaves rather than infusing longer

than is recommended.

• Tea that is oversteeped will become bitter.

Care and Cleaning

w WARNING

Electrical Shock Hazard. Do not immerse kettle, power base, or plug in water

or any other liquid.

w WARNING

Burn Hazard. Do not use abrasive scouring pads or powders since they may

scratch the smooth surface of the kettle.

1. With Kettle unplugged, empty any remaining

water and rinse. Allow Kettle to cool

completely.

2. Wipe the exterior of Kettle with a damp cloth

and dry. Do not use abrasive scouring pads

or powders since they may scratch smooth

surface of Kettle.

To remove discoloration or scale/lime deposit from inside Kettle:

1. Unplug.

2. Pour 1 tablespoon (15 mL) white vinegar and

1/4 cup (59 mL) water into Kettle and let stand

10 minutes.

OR

Place 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 mL) cream of tartar

(available in the spice aisle of grocery store)

into Kettle. Then fill Kettle 1/2 full with water.

Plug into outlet, then toggle Temperature

Button to 212 to bring to boil. Press Power

ON/OFF Button. Unplug and let cool. Rinse

several times with clean tap water.

3. Rub Kettle floor with a paper towel. Remove

paper towel and vinegar.

4. Wash with soap and water, and then rinse and

dry.

TIP: To avoid scale/lime deposit buildup,

empty Kettle after each use.

This warranty applies to products purchased and used in the U.S. and Canada. This is the

only express warranty for this product and is in lieu of any other warranty or condition.

This product is warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a

period of five (5) years from the date of original purchase in Canada and one (1) year

from the date of original purchase in the U.S. During this period, your exclusive remedy

is replacement of this product or any component found to be defective, at our option;

however, you are responsible for all costs associated with our returning a product or

component under this warranty to you. If the product or component is unavailable, we will

replace with a similar one of equal or greater value.

This warranty does not cover glass, filters, wear from normal use, use not in conformity

with the printed directions, or damage to the product resulting from accident, alteration,

abuse, or misuse. This warranty extends only to the original consumer purchaser or

gift recipient. Keep the original sales receipt, as proof of purchase is required to make a

warranty claim. This warranty is void if the product is used for other than single-family

16. Pour éviter la surchauffe d’un circuit

électrique, ne pas brancher d’autre

appareil de haute puissance sur le même

17. L’élément chauffant peut rester chaud

une fois que la bouilloire est éteinte.

18. AVERTISSEMENT : Si la bouilloire

est trop pleine, l’eau bouillante peut

éclabousser.

La longueur du cordon installé sur cet

appareil a été sélectionnée afin de réduire

les risques d’enchevêtrement ou de faux

pas causés par un fil trop long. L’utilisation

d’une rallonge approuvée est permise si le

cordon est trop court. Les caractéristiques

électriques de la rallonge doivent

être équivalentes ou supérieures aux

caractéristiques de l’appareil. Si l’appareil

est doté d’une mise à la terre, la rallonge

électrique devrait être trifilaire et munie d’un

fil de terre. Prendre toutes les précautions

nécessaires pour installer la rallonge de

manière à ne pas la faire courir sur le

comptoir ou sur une table pour éviter qu’un

enfant ne tire sur le cordon ou trébuche

accidentellement.

Pour éviter la surcharge du circuit électrique,

Utilisation

w AVERTISSEMENT

Risque de brûlures. Ne pas trop remplir la bouilloire. L’eau brûlante

peut jaillir hors du bec.

Avant la première utilisation : Appuyer sur le bouton d’ouverture du couvercle pour soulever le

couvercle et remplir la bouilloire d’eau jusqu’à la ligne de remplissage MAX (1,7 L). Appuyer sur le

couvercle pour le fixer en place et déposer la bouilloire sur la base. Brancher la bouilloire dans la prise.

Faire basculer le bouton de température pour choisir 100/212. La bouilloire portera l’eau à ébullition

et passera automatiquement au mode réchaud. Jeter l’eau et répéter l’opération trois fois en rinçant la

bouilloire chaque fois. La bouilloire est maintenant prête à être utilisée.

REMARQUE : Pour passer des degrés Fahrenheit (°F) aux degrés Celsius (°C) : appuyer sur le bouton

de température et le garder enfoncé 3 secondes.

1. Appuyer sur le bouton d’ouverture du

couvercle pour soulever le couvercle et

ajouter de l’eau dans la bouilloire. Ne pas la

remplir au-delà de la ligne de remplissage

MAX (1,7 L). Appuyer sur le couvercle pour

le fermer.

2. S’assurer que la base se trouve sur une

surface à niveau. Déposer la bouilloire sur la

base.

3. Brancher l’appareil dans une prise. La

bouilloire émettra un bip.

4. Choisir la température souhaitée en appuyant

sur le bouton de température . La bouilloire

émettra un bip, la température sélectionnée

clignotera 3 fois, l’appareil émettra un autre

bip et l’icône s’affichera lorsque l’eau

commencera à chauffer automatiquement.

Une fois la température atteinte, la bouilloire

bipera 3 fois et passera en mode Keep Warm

( /réchaud) pour 30 minutes. Durant ce

temps, la bouilloire continuera de chauffer

pour maintenir la température sélectionnée.

Après 30 minutes, la bouilloire s’éteindra

automatiquement.

REMARQUE : Appuyer sur le bouton

d’alimentation MARCHE/ARRÊT et le

garder enfoncé à tout moment pour éteindre

la bouilloire.

5. Verser l’eau chaude dans votre tasse.

6. Débrancher.

REMARQUE : N’utiliser la bouilloire que pour faire bouillir de l’eau. La garantie est annulée si la

bouilloire est utilisée pour faire bouillir d’autres sortes de liquides comme le café ou le thé.

Fonction réchaud :

La bouilloire passe automatiquement en mode fonction réchaud durant 30 minutes une fois la

température sélectionnée atteinte. Durant ce temps, la bouilloire continuera de chauffer pour maintenir

la température sélectionnée. Si la bouilloire est retirée de la base, elle s’éteindra. Appuyer sur le

bouton d’alimentation MARCHE/ARRÊT pour revenir à la température sélectionnée; la bouilloire

recommencera à chauffer. La fonction fonction réchaud ne maintient pas la température d’ébullition de

100 °C (212 °F). Elle maintient une température entre 94 et 99 °C (202 à 210 °F).

Si le fond de la bouilloire se décolore :

L’acier inoxydable des éléments chauffants décoloré est normal. Ceci ne nuit pas au fonctionnement

de la bouilloire. Ne pas utiliser de tampons à récurer ou nettoyants, car ils pourraient endommager la

surface en acier inoxydable.

Si la bouilloire a chauffé à vide :

L’élément chauffant est protégé par deux dispositifs de sécurité automatiques. Si votre bouilloire est

allumée par accident sans qu’elle soit remplie d’eau, ou si l’eau bout jusqu’à évaporation complète, la

bouilloire s’éteindra automatiquement. Quoi faire :

• Débrancher la bouilloire et laisser refroidir l’élément pendant environ 20 minutes.

• Remplir la bouilloire à nouveau, puis l’utiliser comme à l’habitude en vérifiant qu’elle fonctionne

correctement. Retirer la bouilloire de la base et la replacer sur la base. Brancher l’appareil dans une

prise. Appuyer sur le bouton de température pour choisir la température d’eau souhaitée.

Si la bouilloire ne fonctionne pas :

• Est-ce que la bouilloire a été accidentellement mise sous tension sans eau ou a-t-elle chauffé à

vide ? Retirer la bouilloire de la base et ajouter de l’eau. Replacer la bouilloire sur la base et

appuyer sur le bouton de température . Si la bouilloire ne s’allume pas, attendre 20 minutes et

recommencer.

• Le cordon est-il fermement branché dans la prise murale et est-ce que la bouilloire est bien installée

sur son base ?

REMARQUE : Ces réglages de température peuvent varier en fonction d’un certain nombre de facteurs

Guide de préparation du thé

• Porter à ébullition dans la bouilloire de l’eau filtrée ou de l’eau sapide du robinet. Compter 177 mL

(6 onces) d’eau pour chaque tasse de thé.

• Pour du thé en feuilles plutôt qu’en sachet, déposer une cuillère à thé complète de feuilles par

tasse dans un infuseur et placer l’infuseur dans la tasse. Sans infuseur, verser le thé en feuilles

directement dans la tasse.

• Verser l’eau chaude directement sur le thé. Pour obtenir un thé plus fort, ajouter une plus grande

quantité de feuilles plutôt que d’infuser les feuilles au-delà de temps recommandé.

• Le thé trop infusé prend un goût amer.
