What do I have to do to see the outside temperature? It now reports the same temperature as inside while it is at least 10 degrees colder outside

Can the sensor of Denver WS-520 be left outside in the rain? According to the manual, the device is not waterproof, but this also applies to the outdoor sensor. That is not clear from the text

I hang the sensor outside on a post. As soon as it gets wet, the display inside is no longer visible. I have now made a cap from a spray can as a roof. The top of the cap is now at the back with a hole drilled in it and comes between the post and the sensor. However, the cap must be cut open from the bottom up to halfway and removed. Now see if this works.

What is the best location for a weather station and its sensors? Verified

The weather station itself is placed inside and needs to be kept away from heat sources such as the kitchen, windows or electrical appliances. A separate outside temperature sensor needs to placed in shadow and at least 1,25m above the ground. A rain sensor needs to be placed in an open area where it can always collect rain. A wind sensor needs to be placed in an open area too, with any obstacles influencing the wind.
