This happened to me, too. I cured it by cleaning out the tip of the thermometer, which had developed an almost-invisible coating of earwax (yuk). Once properly cleaned, it functioned normally again.

Bought this thermometer and have used it twice since then. Now I wanted to use it again, but only H1 appears on the screen. The manual only states that the temperature is higher than 43 degrees. Well, that's certainly not the case. Worthless!!!!
