You probably did something wrong. The lid is pushed in from the side. If you've already broken your noses then it's probably broken. There is a tab on the right of the lid and one on the left in the battery compartment when the display is at the bottom.

I just wanted a blood pressure monitor and not a computer toy. Took the SBC 22 to the bulky waste. Is absolutely useless for the elderly. The push buttons for operation alone are an impertinence.
