Abgeleitet vom berühmten Panzerkampfwagen V „Panther“,

erwies sich der „Jagdpanther“ im Gefecht durch seine gelun-

gene Kombination von Beweglichkeit, Panzerschutz und

Feuerkraft jedem alliierten Gegner als überlegen. Der

„Jagdpanther“ mit 8,8cm Pak 43/3 L/71 wurde ab Januar 1944

produziert. Angetrieben von einem 600 PS starken V 12-Zylin -

der Maybach Ottomotor erreichte er eine Höchstgeschwin -

digkeit von 55km/h. Die Besatzung bestand aus 5 Mann.

Entsprechend den vielfältigen Aufgaben, die an die deutschen

Pioniere während des 2. Weltkriegs gestellt wurden, kam es zur

Aufstellung immer neuer spezialisierter Pioniereinheiten, wie

z.B. Landungs-, Panzer- und Fallschirmpioniere. Besonders her-

vorzuheben sind die Sturmpioniere, die im infanteristischen

Einsatz die feindlichen Befestigungen direkt angriffen.

Based on the famous Panzerkampfwagen V „Panther“, the

„Jagdpanther“ was superior in battle to any allied opponent

thanks to a successful combination of mobility, armour and fire

power. The „Jagdpanther“, fitted with an 88 mm Pak 43/3 L/71

has gone in production in January 1944. Powered by a 600 HP

V-12 Maybach internal combustion engine, it reached the top

speed of 55 km/h. It was manned by a crew of 5.

To answer the various tasks requested from the deutschen pio-

niere (German sappers) during WW2, several specialised sap-

pers units have been created, such as landing, armoured and

airborne sappers. Top of the breed were the sturmpioniere

(assault sappers), who, while fighting with the infantry, had to

storm the enemy’s defences head on.
