waargenomen polsslag met de gemiddelde waarde om de standaard afwijking te berekenen. Het

apparaat toont een waarschuwingssignaal tijdens het meten om een onregelmatige polsslag aan te

geven wanneer het verschil van de tijdsintervallen meer dan 25% is.

5.2 Wat is bloeddruk?

Bloeddruk is de druk die wordt uitgeoefend op de slagaderwand door het bloed dat door de slagaders

stroomt. De druk die wordt gemeten wanneer het hart samentrekt en bloed uit het hart stuwt, is

systolisch (bovendruk). De druk die wordt gemeten wanneer het hart uitzet door het bloed dat

terugstroomt naar het hart wordt de diastolische bloeddruk (onderdruk) genoemd.

5.3 Waarom moet u uw bloeddruk meten?

Van de verschillende gezondheidsproblemen waarmee de moderne mens heeft af te rekenen, komen

problemen gepaard met een hoge bloeddruk verreweg het vaakst voor. Door de gevaarlijk sterke

correlatie tussen hoge bloeddruk en cardiovasculaire aandoeningen en het hoge ziektecijfer zijn

bloeddrukmetingen noodzakelijk geworden om de risicogroepen te identificeren.

5.4 Bloeddruknorm

Dit toestel is uitgerust met een bloeddrukindicator die uw bloeddrukmetingen onderbrengt in een van

de zes stadia (Optimaal tot Ernstige hypertensie) waarin de WHO de bloeddruk classificeert (zie

onderstaand schema).

Na elke meting geeft het lcd-scherm automatisch uw positie weer in een van de zes delen van de

balkindicator die overeenstemt met de bloeddrukindicator van het WHO.

5.5 Detector voor onregelmatige hartslag (IHB)

Het symbool verschijnt op het scherm wanneer bij de meting een zekere onregelmatigheid in de

hartslag werd vastgesteld. Een hartritme dat meer of minder dan 25% van het gemiddelde ritme afwijkt,

wordt gewoonlijk als een onregelmatig hartritme beschouwd. De verschijning van dit symbool kan

worden veroorzaakt door een onregelmatige hartslag, maar ook door praten, bewegen of schudden

tijdens de meting.

Gewoonlijk is er geen reden tot ongerustheid, maar als het symbool regelmatig verschijnt, adviseren

wij u om een arts te raadplegen.Hou er rekening mee dat dit niet het onderzoek van een arts vervangt,

maar enkel helpt om een onregelmatige hartslag in een vroeg stadium te detecteren.
