We purchased 6 VILMAR Chairs and within months, the fasteners that hold the laminate timber seat to the frame broke. IKEA has no spares. Out of production. I think this is unacceptable. I now have unsafe chairs and will probably need to replace all 6.

The IKEA Vilmar chairs we have at our home have plastic fittings, #123663 that are breaking! I am wondering if there is a metal version of these fittings that I could replace the plastic ones with?

We have the same problem. I haven't found a metal version of the fitting but Ikea are happy to send you replacements, free of charge. I have just requested my third set :-(

This relatively cheap chair has major design faults: The plastic braces which hold the steel leg frame have a very short life, and break up, which renders the chair useless. Ikea does not provide spares and an equivalent part does not exist. I tried hacking it by using a combination of epoxy glue and makeshift metal braces but didn't really work. The least Ikea should do is provide spares.

Where can I find the size screw that goes into the bottom holds the legs on??
