Installation and Operation of the EU-1 Electrical Unit (optional).
For Models SUP400 and SUP420 Models ONLY.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of burns, fire, electric
shock, apply the following:
• READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THE UNIT.
• When using an electrical appliance, basic precautions should
always be followed.
• Close supervision is necessar y when this appliance is used
by, or near children or disabled persons.
• Use this appliance only for its intended use as described in
this manual. DO NOT USE attachments not recommended by
the manufacturer.
• To disconnect, turn all controls to the off position, then
remove the plug from the outlet.
• All controls are to be in the off position and all plugs are to
be removed from the outlet prior to folding the ironing board
and closing the cabinet door.
• Keep combustibles, such as plastics, paper goods, aerosol
containers, and similar materials away from the lamp.
• The receptacle in this product is only to be used for the
connection of an iron.
• Use only a 30 Watt maximum, type R-20 lamp.
Installation
CAUTION: Electrical wiring for the EU-1 is to be
installed in accordance with local electric codes.
Please consult a licensed electrician in your area.
A. When installing the electrical wiring, allow an extra length of
wire so that the cabinet can be set on the floor when
installing the EU-1.
B. Separate the mounting plate from
the housing by removing the
housing screw and lock washer
as shown in Figure 4. NOTE:
The ground wire for the electri-
cal receptacle in the EU-1 is
attached to the mounting plate.
C. Drill a 1" diameter hole on top of
the cabinet as indicated in Figure 2.
D. Place the mounting plate under the 1"
hole and drill two mounting holes through the mounting plate
and cabinet (see Figure 4). Secure the mounting plate with
the two screws and nuts supplied.
E. Route the electrical wires from the wall through the 1" hole
and through the top of the mounting plate (see Figure 4).
F. Connect the electrical wiring with wire nut connectors as indi-
cated in Figure 3. NOTE: The wire nut connectors must be UL
approved and must be able to connect 14/12 gauge wires.
G. Assemble the EU-1 housing to the mounting plate by inserting
the two mounting plate tabs into the bottom of the housing
and secure with the housing screw and lock washer.
Operation
A. Open the cabinet door and lower the ironing board unto the
horizontal position.
B. Plug your iron into the receptacle in the EU-1 electrical unit.
Please note that the receptacle is for use with an iron only.
C. Turn the dial on the timer to the amount of time you intend
to be ironing. This will turn on the light, and send power to
the receptacle. If you will be ironing longer than thirty min-
utes, you will have to set the timer again when time expires.
D. When you are finished ironing, unplug the iron. If there is
time left on the timer, turn the timer to zero.
E. The Hide-Away ironing board should not be used as a counter-top.
Maintenance
A. Replace the lamp bulb with a 30 watt maximum light bulb
(type R-20 lamp only).
B. There are no user-serviceable parts in the electrical enclo-
sure part of the unit. Ser vicing must be performed by a
qualified electrician.
