3.4 Caravan Couplings

3.4.1 AK 160 Stabiliser

The coupling mechanism has an "Open posi-

tion". As long as the caravan coupling is not

placed on top of the implement coupling, the

coupling handle remains open.

É Place the open caravan coupling (Fig. 2) on

the towing vehicle caravan ball. The cara-

van coupling now locks automatically and

audibly in place.

É In addition, push the coupling handle

(Fig. 2,1) down with your hand (not with

your foot). Closing and securing is carried

out automatically.

É Conduct a visual inspection: The green

point on the safety indicator (Fig. 2,2) must

be visible.

s Check whether the thirteen-pin caravan plug fits into the towing vehicle socket. Should

the designs differ, ask your Bürstner dealer for adaptation possibilities.

s Further information about the AL-KO AKS stabiliser can be obtained in the separate in-

struction manual from AL-KO.

s Before connecting, ensure that the ball head of the coupling device is free of dirt and

grease.

If the caravan is left outside for a long time, it can sustain damage. For example, the sun can dry out sealing rubbers and moss can form. An alternative to storage can be to put a protective cover over the caravan.
