Stage
Instead
of
the IC power amp circuitry used
in
some mid-priced amplifiers, Onkyo opted for discrete
output
stage
in
the
A-8200
and
A-8000
to
ensure clean drive
into
low
impedance loads. In addition, linear
switching
makes for minimum distortion. The Onkyo design
philosophy
for
high
quality
amplifiers
is
also reflected in the careful selection
of
high
quality
parts used in
the
A-8200/8000.

Direct
Input
The
A-8200/S000's
Source Direct
Switch
lets you enjoy
the
purest sound possible from any program source.
Switch
it
on and the music
signal
is
routed directly
into
the power amp circuitry, bypassing all tone and balance controls.

Selective
Tone
Control
(A-8200}
In
this
audio/video
age, power alone
is
not
enogh; the
quality
of
the sound
is
just
as
important. The Selective Tone control brings
out
the
full
impact and excitement
of
hi-fi
video sound by boosting
the
low
bass frequencies around 50
Hz
and high frequencies up
to
40
kHz. You can set the amount
of
bass
boost
to
exactly
the
desired level, avoiding the unpleasant uppermidbass and midrange colorations
that
would
result from turning up a conventional bass control. The Selective Tone control also works wonders on purely audio sources.
