MD-CR.W00 Gallium Thermometer
a. The mercury-free clinical thermometer is a patient temperature measurement device and is indicated for measurements under the tongue, under the armpit or in the rectum.
b. The product complies with the EN12470-1:2000+A1:2009 standard concerning clinical thermometers - Part 1: Metal liquid-in-glass expansion thermometers with maximum device:
1. Conditions of use: the measuring temperature range should be between 35°C and 42°C, and the ambient temperature (only for mercury-free thermometer) should be between 20°C
and 30°C; If the ambient temperature where the thermometer is stored is lower than 20°C, please leave the thermometer at a temperature between 20°C and 30°C for at least 1-2
hours, or between 30°C and 35°C for ten minutes, before use or following any test.
2. Keep the thermometer between -10°C and 42°C during storage and transportation.
3. Disposal of the thermometer: after use, shake the thermometer so that the metallic liquid goes down, then clean it and put it in a plastic case to avoid damaging it.
Advice for correct execution of the oscillating movements: rmly grasp the end of the thermometer with the thumb and forenger and very carefully, shake the
thermometer lightly several times until the liquid drops.
c. Mode of operation
1.The liquid in the column should drop below the lowest mark of the scale before use, then clean and disinfect the clinical thermometer with medical alcohol, or place it on a sterilized plastic tube.
2.In case of oral measurement, be careful to place the thermometer correctly under the patient’s tongue and ask him to close his mouth tightly.
3. In case of rectal measurement, it is recommended to apply a lubricant on the thermometer before inserting it into the anus.
4. In case of underarm measurement, be careful to position the thermometer correctly and ask the patient to squeeze it tightly, so that it is firmly in place.
Please read the measurement taken by the clinical thermometer about 4 minutes after performing the above procedures.
d. WARNINGS
1. Warn patients not to chew, talk or play when the clinical thermometer is placed
under the tongue only;
2.Lay the children down so that they are comfortable and it is easier to hold the end
of the clinical thermometer when using rectally, to prevent it from being inserted
too deeply or slipping from the anus.
3.Refrain from bathing, eating or smoking up to half an hour before body tempera
-
ture measurement;
4.This thermometer is not intended for special applications (for example, premature
baby thermometers, basal thermometers);
e. Disposal of the clinical thermometer
The metallic liquid is an alloy composed of gallium, indium and tin; therefore, this clinical thermometer should be handled with care. In particular, care must be taken not to drop the
instrument or to handle it in any way that could cause damage. In case of breakage of the clinical thermometer, clean the metallic liquid with a cloth moistened with soap and water.
The product can be disposed of with normal household waste.
